President Yoon Suk Yeol attended the 25th ASEAN+3 summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on the morning of November 12 to discuss ways to cooperate with ASEAN, South Korea, China and Japan for sustainable recovery and growth after COVID-19.
 
 President Yoon evaluated that ASEAN+3, which marks the 25th anniversarythis year, has contributed to strengthening real cooperation between ASEAN and Northeast Asian countries.He expressed hope to further strengthen cooperation for tackling the complex crisis.
 
 President Yoon noted that if ASEAN and South Korea, China and Japan respond together to various challenges, they will be able to bear fruit to advance peace and prosperity in the international community. To this end, Korea expressed its willingness to play an active role as the chair among 3 countries and as a coordinatorin ASEAN+3. In addition, the trilateral cooperation mechanism, including the South Korea-China-Japan summit, is expected to be
activated as soon as possible.
 

 President Yoon said that human exchanges and human resources training in the region are also areas where ASEAN, South Korea, China and Japan can cooperate more closely. In order to strengthen the foundation for cooperation, it is important to promote exchanges between future generations, and to provide systematic education programs to teenagers who do not have enough educational opportunities due to COVID-19.
 
 Meanwhile, President Yoon said stability and peace in the region should be premised to strengthen ASEAN-South Korea-China-Japan cooperation, and that our government will actively support ASEAN's efforts to resolve the Myanmar crisis and work closely with the international community to promote democracy in Myanmar.
 
 ASEAN leaders voiced concerns over North Korea's nuclear program, which defies international and U.N. norms, urging Pyongyang to stop acting as soon as possible to threaten peace in the region and respond to denuclearization talks.
 
 ASEAN leaders have thanked South Korea, China, and Japan for their support in responding to COVID-19, and urged the three countriesto continue to cooperate for the recovery of supply chains in the region.
