Assistant Secretary Chung Hwon, in his welcoming speech, emphasized Korea's commitment to sharing its economic development experience to foster sustainable peace and prosperity in Africa. He highlighted Africa's youthful demographic, with 70% of the population under 30, and introduced a special session titled "Talk with Young People" to explore Africa's potential.
Chung also mentioned South Korea's role in international peace and security as a non-permanent member of the 2024-25 Security Council. The dialogue included sessions on 'Peace and Security' and 'Korea-Africa Partnership: Cooperation Cases and Priorities,' aiming to strengthen Korea-Africa cooperation and set the agenda for the upcoming Korea-Africa Summit. This event marks a significant step in fostering collaboration and understanding between Korea and African nations, with a focus on youth engagement and shared development goals.
